InSystems Automation

Kristof is a design engineer & developer at InSystems Automation in Berlin. We have interviewed him. Watch it now!

Kristof Parz (25), Design Enigneer & Developer

Where do you work?

I'm a Design Engineer & Developer at InSystems Automation. We're a special-purpose machine manufacturer, specializing in the construction of transport robots for industry. Transport robots are autonomous robots used in industrial production, for example, to fetch boxes from the warehouse, deliver them to a machine and return them to the warehouse once the parts have been processed.

I'm one of a total of four design engineers and responsible for constantly devising new machines and/or robotic vehicles according to customers' requirements. It's also my job to improve the existing systems. You know, the nice thing about my job is that every day is different. I work both at a desk and in the workshop. In the office, I mainly develop virtual components and then assemble these into vehicles, before testing our designs in the workshop. We have 3D printers on site that we use to build prototypes, thereby creating a transport robot, piece by piece.

What particularly fascinates you about this career?

I'm fascinated by the combination of technology and creativity. Every customer is different and has varying requirements. This ensures variety in our day-to-day work. Our designs almost always result in practical applications. It's exciting to watch. Our work facilitates industrial transport. Our machines can carry various loads with differing dimensions and weights of between 30 to 1,200 kg. It's great to be able to contribute something to this industrial development.

Why did you choose to work in Berlin?

I was born here and love Berlin. The Treptow-Köpenick district, in particular, where I grew up and now work, is the best place in the world for me. I've never been anywhere else where I've wanted to stay longer than two to three weeks on vacation. It's just fun living here.
